The Morgan Horses of Blue Gable Farm
| Blue Gable Farm is located in Germantown, Wisconsin. We are a small breeder of Morgan horses. Our interest lay in athletic horses that would be exciting to present and a joy to watch in motion. We selected a show gelding, a second gelding, and three foundation brood mares. We planned, started breeding, and loved the youngsters that followed. They taught us much of what we now know about morgans. We have had some disappointments and sad losses, and have also been delighted to see so many BGF- bred horses succeeding. Above is one of those very successful kids, junior exhibitor competitor, Gable's Top Quark. Quark made it to Oklahoma, with his new owner, and put on a show. Seven Secrets is at the right. Follow this link for a little history of BGF, a few thoughts, and several favorite photos.

In 1998, horses produced at Blue Gable Farm won the Reserve Championship in the Breeder's Sweepstakes, Gable's Some Enchanted Eve (Clearview Commander x Cedar Creek Elegance), and the ReserveWorld Championship in 3-year-old English Pleasure, Gable's Max McGee (Mtn. Laurel Maximilian x Cedar Creek Elegance).
In 2001, Gable's High Water (Fiddler's Wing Command x Cedar Creek Elegance) was pinned Reserve World Champion, Jr. Exhibitor Pleasure Driving and Gable's Top Quark (HRH Legend Command x Equinox Victoria) took fifth in the English Pleasure Championship, 14-17. Gable's London Fog (Gable's High Water x Equinox Victoria) made his debut at Nationals as a five year old hunt horse. Sadly, he died before he could fulfill his promise.
Purchased in 1982, the first Morgan at Blue Gable Farm was Brady's Defender (Dr. B.F. Brady x Jody Jean O), a handsome black stallion. Rick Davis showed Defender to Grand Champion in western pleasure at Jubilee in his first year. Defender, was our first "show" gelding. While still a young stallion, he managed to sire an illicit colt, Brady's Black Label. Through this one son, Defender's blood carries on in over 100 grand-get.
A growing-up Matthew found and loved the bigger, charming Broken Bit Majesty, who had a great road trot and a greater personality. Both of these geldings can be seen at Our Show Geldings.

*OUR HAPPY "senior" BROODMARES* |
are very talented and each has composed her own page, complete with photos, offspring, and pedigree. - CEDAR CREEK ELEGANCE, shown park saddle by Rick Davis, has been chief broodmare and grand dame from the beginning. Died in 2007.
- LA SHAUNA came via an estate sale. The little mare with the beautiful head, big eye, and flowing motion has gone on to produce very successful, sport horse offspring. Died in 2007.
- EQUINOX VICTORIA (Equinox Benn Adam x Equinox Juliet), full sister to World Champion, Equinox Damsel, arrived as a 5 month old who was not interested in human attention much less direction. She became a quick, sweet, shy mare whose offspring are proving to have all the flow, all the motion that we hoped for. Tory's death in 2000, after a long illness, was a great loss for us. Her first Blue Gable grand-foal, Gable's Phineas T, was born in 2006.
- GABLE'S HONEY ROCK (x Whit Akers Sensation) Ellie's first daughter - by a world Champion park horse. Retired.
- GABLE'S LEGEND ROCK (x HRH Legend Command). Big, chestnut, 2nd daughter of Ellie - by another world champion park horse. Purchased by Silver Maple Stables.
- GABLE'S SEVEN SECRETS (Chantwood Charterson x Gable's Honey Rock) pictured above and on Rocky's page, is very accomplished in the dressage discipline ... and very loved. It seems that she is also retired.
- SAPPHIRA SPRING MIST, bought as a show mare for young Matthew, Sam had three offspring for us.
After 30+ babies and 20+ years, the breeding program at Blue Gable Farm has slowed considerably. Our fields have been home to an increasingly geriatric band. Delta had a 2004 filly and a 2005 colt by Smoke Signal in Vermont. Delta came home in 2006 and presented us with a big, dark bay filly. Ten days earlier, Katie had delivered a smaller, exceedingly lively chestnut colt. Hazel and Phineas, although quite different in looks and style, are great friends.
The babies have always been our favorite part. Visit our own Fabulous Foals Scrapbook of pictures.

- GABLE LEAVIN ONA JETPLANE ...1998 bay mare. 15 h. (Charlestown Super Sonic x Gable's Legend Rock)
"Delta" is a beautiful mare with great talent and style. She has three very nice, bay offspring by Cedar Spring's Man About Town LPS son, SMOKE SIGNAL.
- GABLE'S KATIE BAR THE DOOR... 1999 bay mare. (Charlestown Supersonic x Equinox Victoria) 14.3 h. Katie is a quick, big trotting mare with that great "Equinox" reach under herself. Her first foal, a bright chestnut colt, takes after his mother. Call to learn more about either of these mares.
| Shamu, Lida Rose, and Katie look for something to eat/do in the snow. This is Wisconsin after all. They are probably thinking about how to misbehave. | |
